PAX 2024 is just around the corner and we’re here to bring you some exciting news. Wizards of the Coast are bringing their tabletop experience to the thousands of attendees who are making their way to the Melbourne Convention Centre between the 11th and 13th of October!
With Magic the Gathering celebrating over 30 years of card shuffling, and Dungeons and Dragons celebrating their big 50th birthday this year, Wizards of the Coast have partnered with Let’s Play Games and PAX to bring a plethora of table top excitement and learn-to-play opportunities to the weekend!
Wizards of the Coast at PAX 2024: Shuffle up and play
Across all three days of the convention, players will be able to shuffle up and experience a range of different formats. You can sit down at the MTG booth for a casual game of Commander or sign up for one of the official tournaments. We’ve listed a full schedule of events below:
- Learn to play: looking to get into magic or you’ve just been out of the game a while? Or maybe you just want to make some new play-pals? The MTG booth is the perfect place to be! The knowledgeable and friendly staff will be there to help teach you the basics.
- Sealed: Want to put your deck making to the test? Try one of the many sealed events. Each player gets 6 Play Boosters to build a deck, then go head to head against other players in 3 rounds of 1v1 action! Players are also spoiled for choice as there’s a few sealed options available over the weekend.
- Duskmourn: Experience the chills of retro and modern horror as you try to escape this haunted house themed plane. Bring your opponent’s greatest fears to life as you try to survive the nightmares they have in store for you.
- Bloomburrow: Get in touch with your inner folk hero as you get to know the furry woodland creatures of the plane of Bloomburrow. Put your best paw forward as you go to battle with squirrels, otters and frogs, oh my!
- CHAOS!: When one set just isn’t enough, players will get 6 packs, all from different sets for a true chaotic sealed experience.
- Commander: This 100 card format is beloved by many fans as the ways that you can play are endless. Bring your own deck or buy one of the preconstructed decks from the event to play with. You’ll definitely be able to find me here!

Wizards of the Coast at PAX 2024: Roll For Initiative!
Celebrate 50 years of interactive storytelling with the world’s most popular tabletop roleplaying game. Wizards of the Coast has 2 exciting activities for con-goers to partake in!
- Learn to play: With the biggest hurdle to successful long-running playgroups (besides organising times to meet as grown adults) being just learning how to play, this is the area for everyone interested in starting. A team of dungeon masters are on hand to teach you the basics to this dice rolling epic to get you started!
- Paint and take: Want to take home something besides knowledge? Head on over to the paint and take area to paint your very own miniature! Whether you’re a veteran painter or brand new to the craft, unleash your inner artist and take home your own custom painted mini!
There’s plenty of fun to be had at PAX 2024 for anyone looking to play some cards or roll some dice! Hope to see you all there and I’ll be sure to bring my commander deck with me for anyone wanting to test their skills!
